This is a non-fiction account of a boy's coming of age struggle with child abuse, molestation, and incest, being ostracized from his family, years of being stalked, and the truth that unshackled the chains of a man's past and ultimately set him free to find joy and peace. The inner child within us all is not a disassociated part of our psyche, but a psychological reality. Healing cannot begin until the truth is told and we are born again, out of darkness and pain, to live in the light of day and experience the true gifts of love and blessedness. Wonderfully written and very easy to read but be prepared to see a very dark side of mankind. I could not put this book down. I am not usually a fan of non fiction but this book was different. I wanted to save this hurting little boy. I wanted to be this man's friend to prove to him that all people were not users. I admire his bravery for standing up and saying I am not going to take this anymore and telling the truth.
Being a victim of domestic violence for over 20 years I know what that release feels like. I applaud this author for telling the truth and rising from the ashes to be reborn!

In short book touched my soul. As a gay man growing up in church in the south but also as a millennial, this authors story is incredibly raw, gut wrenching, funny and truly inspiring.
The author does an amazing job of painting a picture and you truly feel like you're right there beside him during all of these accounts. This man has been through so much and I agree with the reviewer before me who said "some content is disturbing but real and necessary" As someone who hasn't dealt with molestation but who has grown up with oppression and suicidal thoughts because I thought something was wrong with me because I was born differently I identify so much with this man.
Honestly this book has given me a breath of fresh air to realize life isn't over for gay men after 30 and to say it has given me an abundance of hope is truly an understatement. I feel more free and "reborn" after reading this book than I have in such a long time and will be passing it on to many close friends of mine. Honestly can't say enough good things about it. It is explicit and hard to read at some points that I had to put it down for a bit.... But so glad it was in there as it truly helped me on my own journey in life and with God.
Thank you Hunter for being so brave and raw and honest. You've truly given me hope I thought was lost.

Enchanting
Thoroughly enchanting read with characters fleshed out in great detail. And who doesn't enjoy a nice plot twist. Hopefully this is the first in a series???
